Here is the genius part: having built a modded PC out of an alloy wheel, I found the damn thing wouldn't stay still - the weight of the off-center PSU kept causing it to roll away. I needed to design some sort of stand that would keep it upright.
This is what the system looked like at this stage. I had to use the walls to stop it rolling away while I was photographing it.
The solution was simple and I think quite elegant: two lengths of clear plexi pipe and two more aluminium handles from IKEA. Note that the handles are different lengths to create a V-shape. It look just a few minutes to make but it works a treat - why make things harder than they need to be?
Here is the final case in my living room. It is fair to say there aren't many people with an HTPC made from an alloy wheel. Yet as it turned out, my work was far from complete. Keep reading for Phase II.
